Set up the Yr Weather tool
Summary
Section titled “Summary”Yr Weather lets your KonversAI assistant answer a weather question for a place you choose. You add it on the Assistant tools screen in the KonversAI console. Select Settings in the left sidebar, then select AI tools. You configure a list of places under Locations. The assistant answers only for a place in that list, and returns the current conditions plus the next 72 hours from yr.no. Ask about any other place and the assistant replies with the list of places you configured, and points the customer to yr.no.
Who can do this
Section titled “Who can do this”A team member with the View tools permission opens the Assistant tools screen in the KonversAI console. A team member with the Modify tools permission adds, edits, validates and deletes the tool. A Tenant Admin holds both permissions, always. Without View tools, the item AI tools does not appear under Settings in the left sidebar. Ask a Tenant Admin to grant Modify tools on the User permissions screen.
Before you start

Decide the name you want the assistant to match on. The customer says a place name, and the assistant matches it against the Name you type, ignoring capital letters. Pick the name your customers actually use, not the official map name.
Yr Weather needs no API key and no secret. The tool has no Secrets card.
- Select Settings in the left sidebar of the KonversAI console, then select AI tools. Select + Add tool.

- Read the results. Each result shows the full place name, its region, and its coordinates. Select Select on the right result. KonversAI adds a row to the table with Name, Latitude and Longitude filled in.

What does the assistant answer with the Yr Weather tool?
Section titled “What does the assistant answer with the Yr Weather tool?”Yr Weather returns the weather for one place from your Locations list in the KonversAI console. Select Settings in the left sidebar, select AI tools, then open the tool, to see the list. The tool returns the conditions right now and an hour-by-hour forecast for the next 72 hours: temperature, wind speed, wind direction and precipitation. The assistant writes the answer in its own words, so it usually reports the part the customer asked about rather than all 72 hours.
The assistant says it has no forecast for the place a customer asked about. Why?
Section titled “The assistant says it has no forecast for the place a customer asked about. Why?”Yr Weather answers only for a place in the Locations list on the tool in the KonversAI console. Select Settings in the left sidebar, select AI tools, then open the tool, to see the list. The assistant matches the customer’s words against the Name column, ignoring capital letters, and finds nothing when the customer uses a different word. The tool then hands the assistant your configured place names and the advice to visit yr.no. Add the place, or rename an existing row to the word your customers use.
Do I need an account or an API key for this tool?
Section titled “Do I need an account or an API key for this tool?”No. Yr Weather has no Secrets card and needs no key. Add the tool on the Assistant tools screen in the KonversAI console, fill in Locations, and it works. Select Settings in the left sidebar, then select AI tools, then select + Add tool, to start.
How do I add a place when the search finds the wrong one?
Section titled “How do I add a place when the search finds the wrong one?”Select Add manual location under the Locations table on the Yr Weather tool in the KonversAI console. Select Settings in the left sidebar, select AI tools, then open the tool, to reach it. A new empty row appears. Type your own Name, then type the Latitude and Longitude of the exact spot. Latitude must be between -90 and 90, longitude between -180 and 180. KonversAI rounds each coordinate to four decimals when you leave the box, which is precise to about ten metres.
Can I use my own name for a place instead of the official one?
Section titled “Can I use my own name for a place instead of the official one?”Yes. The Name column in the Locations table on the Yr Weather tool
is yours to choose. Select Settings in the left sidebar of the KonversAI
console, select AI tools, then open the tool. Search for the place, select
Select, then edit Name to the word your customers use, such as the cabin or our shop. Latitude and Longitude decide where the forecast
comes from, so the answer stays correct.
Validate and save failed. What do I check?
Section titled “Validate and save failed. What do I check?”The banner names the places that failed, as Weather validation failed for: Kikut. Open the Yr Weather tool in the KonversAI console — select Settings in the left sidebar, then AI tools — and check the row. At least one location is required. means the Locations table is empty. A message that a location must have numeric lat and lon means Latitude or Longitude holds something that is not a number. Could not reach yr.no. means the forecast service did not answer; select Validate and save again in a few minutes.
Can I have two Yr Weather tools with different places?
Section titled “Can I have two Yr Weather tools with different places?”Yes. Add the type a second time on the Assistant tools screen in the KonversAI console, with a different Slug. Select Settings in the left sidebar, then select AI tools, then select + Add tool. Give each tool its own Locations list and its own Usage guidance for the AI assistant, so the assistant knows which one to call. One tool for your shops and one for your outdoor sites is a common split.
How do I stop the assistant talking about the weather?
Section titled “How do I stop the assistant talking about the weather?”Clear the Enabled checkbox on the Yr Weather tool and select Save changes. Select Settings in the left sidebar of the KonversAI console, select AI tools, then select the tool name in the Name column.
