Rename or close your workspace

General is a screen in the KonversAI console. Select Settings in the left sidebar, then select General. The screen carries the heading General. The console calls a workspace a tenant, and this page uses the word tenant, because the screen does. On General you change Name and Description, you read the Slug, and you switch Allow new conversations on or off. A Tenant Admin also sees the Danger zone, which schedules the whole tenant for deletion after a 10-day grace period.

A Tenant Admin, or any team member whose role includes the tenant settings permission. The console calls the two permissions View tenant settings and Modify tenant settings. View tenant settings shows the General screen. Modify tenant settings lets you change Name, Description and Allow new conversations. Only a Tenant Admin sees the Danger zone. KonversAI hides the whole Danger zone card from every other role, and the server also refuses the request with an HTTP 403 error. A Tenant Operator does not get the tenant settings permissions by default.

Know what Allow new conversations does before you clear it. With the checkbox clear, the chat widget does not appear on your website at all. A customer who already has the widget open cannot send a message. This affects every customer at once, and it takes effect as soon as you select Update Tenant.

Know that you cannot change the Slug. The Slug field on the General screen in the KonversAI console is read-only, and it has a grey background. The slug is in the address of every console page for your tenant, in the form /t/<slug>/. To get a different slug, ask KonversAI support.

Understand the deletion before you open the Danger zone. A scheduled deletion removes the conversations, the knowledge base, the users of this tenant and the settings. KonversAI waits 10 days, then deletes the data. Nobody can undo the deletion after KonversAI runs it.

  1. Select Settings in the left sidebar of the KonversAI console, then select General. The screen opens with the heading General.
  2. Type the new name in Name. The field is mandatory. The name appears in the console and in the chat widget header, when you do not set a widget header title of your own.
  3. Type a note in Description. This text is internal. Use it to tell two tenants apart. Leave it empty when you do not need it. No customer reads it.
  4. Read the Slug. You cannot change it. KonversAI keeps the slug in the address of every page of your tenant.
  5. Select Update Tenant. Select Cancel to leave the screen with no change.
  1. Select Settings in the left sidebar of the KonversAI console, then select General.
  2. Clear the checkbox Allow new conversations.
  3. Select Update Tenant.
  4. Check your website. The chat bubble does not load any more, and an inline widget shows the page content that sits behind it.
  5. Check the checkbox Allow new conversations again, then select Update Tenant, to bring the widget back. The change works at once, and the customer only needs to reload the page.
  1. Select Settings in the left sidebar of the KonversAI console, then select General.
  2. Go down to the Danger zone card. Only a Tenant Admin sees this card.
  3. Read the warning: Schedule permanent deletion of this tenant and all related data (conversations, knowledge base, users in this tenant, and settings). Deletion happens after a 10-day grace period and cannot be undone once executed.
  4. Select Delete tenant. A window opens with the heading Schedule tenant deletion?
  5. Type the slug of the tenant in Tenant slug. The text must match the slug exactly. Schedule deletion stays disabled until it matches.
  6. Select Schedule deletion. To stop and change nothing, select Cancel.
  7. Read the new text on the Danger zone card. It names the date and the time of the deletion: This tenant is scheduled for permanent deletion on and then the date. KonversAI also shows the banner Tenant scheduled for deletion to your team in the console.
  1. Select Settings in the left sidebar of the KonversAI console, then select General. Only a Tenant Admin sees the Danger zone card.
  2. Go down to the Danger zone card. It shows the deletion date and the line All related data will be removed at that time unless you cancel below.
  3. Select Cancel scheduled deletion. Do this inside the 10-day grace period.
  4. Read the card again. The Danger zone card goes back to the Delete tenant button, and the warning banner disappears from the console.

Cancel the deletion before the date passes. KonversAI deletes the data after the grace period, and no button brings the data back.

What exactly happens to customers when I clear Allow new conversations?

Section titled “What exactly happens to customers when I clear Allow new conversations?”

The chat stops for everybody. Allow new conversations is a checkbox on the General screen in the KonversAI console, under Settings in the left sidebar. With the checkbox clear, the chat bubble does not render on your website at all, and an inline widget shows the fallback content of the page instead. A customer who kept the widget open sees the message box and the conversation list disappear, and reads the notice This chat is currently configured to not accept new conversations. Please sign in or contact the site owner. The button that opens the earlier conversations also disappears. Check the checkbox again and select Update Tenant to restore the chat.

No. Slug on the General screen in the KonversAI console, under Settings in the left sidebar, is read-only. The field has a grey background and does not accept typing. KonversAI puts the slug in the address of every console page of your tenant, in the form /t/<slug>/, and other records point at it, so a change would break those links. Change Name instead, because the name is what your team and your customers read. Contact KonversAI support when you must have a different slug.

What is the difference between Name and Description?

Section titled “What is the difference between Name and Description?”

Both fields sit on the General screen in the KonversAI console, under Settings in the left sidebar. Name is the name of the tenant. It is mandatory, and it appears in the console and in the chat widget header when you set no widget header title of your own. Description is an internal note only. Use it to tell two tenants apart when you run more than one. You can leave Description empty. No customer ever reads the description.

How long is the grace period before KonversAI deletes my tenant?

Section titled “How long is the grace period before KonversAI deletes my tenant?”

10 days. You start the deletion in the Danger zone card on the General screen in the KonversAI console, under Settings in the left sidebar. The card says: Deletion happens after a 10-day grace period and cannot be undone once executed. The window that opens says the same: The tenant will be permanently deleted after a 10-day grace period. The Danger zone card then shows the exact date and time of the deletion. Everything keeps working during those 10 days. Select Cancel scheduled deletion on the same card at any time inside the period to stop it.

You have not typed the slug yet. The window Schedule tenant deletion? on the General screen in the KonversAI console asks you to type the tenant slug in Tenant slug. KonversAI compares your text with the real slug, letter for letter. Schedule deletion stays disabled until the two match exactly. The slug is in the Slug field on the same screen, and in the address bar in the form /t/<slug>/. Copy it from there. The server checks the text again, and answers confirm_slug does not match this tenant’s slug. when it is wrong.

I do not see a Danger zone on the General screen. Why?

Section titled “I do not see a Danger zone on the General screen. Why?”

You are not a Tenant Admin of this tenant. The Danger zone card on the General screen in the KonversAI console, under Settings in the left sidebar, appears only for the Tenant Admin role. Every other role sees the Name, Description, Slug and Allow new conversations fields and no Danger zone. The server enforces the same rule, so a request from another role gets an HTTP 403 error. Ask a Tenant Admin of your tenant to do the deletion, or ask one to change your role. See Add a team member for roles.

Can I undo a deletion after the 10 days pass?

Section titled “Can I undo a deletion after the 10 days pass?”

No. KonversAI deletes the conversations, the knowledge base, the users of the tenant and the settings when the grace period ends. Nothing brings them back. Act inside the 10 days. Select Settings in the left sidebar of the KonversAI console, select General, go to the Danger zone card, and select Cancel scheduled deletion. The card shows the exact date and time of the deletion until you cancel it. Export anything you need before the date.

I tried to schedule a deletion twice and got an error. What does it mean?

Section titled “I tried to schedule a deletion twice and got an error. What does it mean?”

You already scheduled one. The Danger zone card on the General screen in the KonversAI console holds one deletion request at a time, and the server answers A deletion is already scheduled for this tenant. for a second request. Reload the General screen. The Danger zone card then shows the deletion date and the button Cancel scheduled deletion in place of Delete tenant. Select Cancel scheduled deletion first when you want a different date, then start again with Delete tenant.
